Participants will make a small rug from (mostly) natural coloured local fleece, which will be completed in class. Learn to work with batts and roping (carded roving) and coarse prefelt to make a durable, interesting rug. Approx finished size 2 ft x 3 ft.
Prepare to work hard to complete your rug- this is a very physical project.
Location: MIllarville Racetrack Hall from 10am to 4pm both days.
Skill Level: Suitable for beginners, but not for non-felters.
Supplies provided by instructor: All wool, prefelt, templates.
Kit Fee (paid to instructor at workshop) $65 approx.
Supplies to be brought by participant: * is optional
· Single ply wool yarn that felts - not superwash. A few colours if you have them. In a ball not a skein.
· Bar of olive oil or other felting soap. Limited ingredients. No sweet almond oil.
· Liquid dish soap - Ivory or Dawn or Earth’s Own
· Bubble wrap - two pieces 2.5 ft x 4 ft. each
· Old bed sheet or cotton fabric 3 ft x 6 ft.
· Nylon tulle or netting 3 ft x 4 ft.
· Many old towels and 2 microfibre cloths.
· 4 L bucket or wash basin
· Sponge - like a car washing sponge
· Ball brauser or other water tool
· *watering can with small holes if you have one
· Foam roller (pool noodle)
· Dowel or pipe 3 ft
· Bamboo blind if you have it. 3 ft x 4 ft.
· Sharp scissors
· Two plastic freezer bags- hand size
· Ruler or tape measure
· *Rotary cutter and ruler and mat if you have one. We can share.
· *Ridged floor runner or shelf liner (if you have one)
