Workshop Title: Improve Your Knitting/Learn New Techniques/Create a Cup Cozy & Cowl

Workshop Description:

This workshop is for anyone who understands the basics of knit and purl. Everything else will be taught in class. If you are struggling with the basics, there will be many class participants who can coach you as well. We will begin with a provisional cast on and then learn cable stitches in class. All the while, these new techniques will become a mug cozy. The afternoon will be spent incorporating these same techniques to create a larger project --- a no-seam cowl. There is not enough time during the workshop to complete the cowl, so you can finish that at home. Throughout the workshop, Shirley will sprinkle in several tips and tricks to improve your knitting knowledge.

Techniques & Tips:

Provisional Cast On (using scrap yarn & a crochet hook)

Place Markers (use different colors for different purposes)

Cables (left leaning & right leaning)

Lifelines (yarn or dental floss)

Kitchener Stitch (grafting)

Seed Stitch (worked over an odd # of sts means that you knit the same sts on RS and WS)

Purl Stitches next to cables make the cable sts "pop" to the foreground
